Purpose: To administer the BMI recognition program, which features four Awards: The Master Bookman, Signature, Cased-In-Club and Gutenberg.
PROGRAM
Bill Rojack, Chair
Purpose: The Program Committee for the Book Manufacturers’ Institute is responsible for identifying, inviting and delivering a variety of speakers for both the Spring and the Fall Conferences. The general understanding is that the Spring meeting focus is management/operations focused and the Fall meeting is an executive, broader publishing perspective.
MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING

Purpose: The Membership and Marketing Committee for the Book Manufacturers’ Institute is responsible for identifying those companies which comprise the book manufacturing industry and to work with BMI staff to develop marketing materials, messaging and programs designed to encourage prospective companies to join the BMI.

MANUFACTURING & STANDARDS
Dirk Hiler, Chair
Purpose: The Manufacturing & Standards Committee for the Book Manufacturers’ Institute is responsible for recommendations for those problems of an industry-wide nature with respect to safety, waste, energy, equipment, materials, and other in-plant operations and to recommend to the Directors programs of study and activities to deal with these matters. Also, to work working cooperatively with the State Instructional Materials Review Administrators and the Association of American Publishers in the development of Manufacturing Standards and Specifications for Textbooks.

INDUSTRY AFFAIRS
Mike Collinge, Chair
Purpose: The Industry Affairs Committee for the Book Manufacturers’ Institute is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the association that are specifically related to the Book Manufacturing Industry. This includes, but is not limited to: training and education, government affairs, and industry group relations. The Committee will council the Board and BMI staff on prioritization of topics and issues, as well as suggested action items.
